FLORENCE YEE

Florence Yee is a 2.5-generation, queer Cantonese-struggling interdisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal and Tkaronto/Toronto. Their exploration of authenticity and failure has prompted their practice to commemorate the objects and experiences of the Cantonese-Canadian/Québécoise diaspora, mostly through their relationships with their grandmother and languages. They prioritize fluidity and self-representation, away from romanticizing traditional, static identities grounded in one space or one time.
